Progress on Sustainable Development Goal for Sanitation and Hygiene in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 6.2 focuses on ensuring that everyone has access to adequate sanitation and hygiene services by 2030. This study harvested data from the 2021 Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) report of SDG assess progress in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) countries. for countries SSA were extracted analyzed determine towards attainment 6.2. analyses revealed rate annual at least basic (0.50%) (0.22%) 2015 2020 was very low. However, t-test results showed there significant differences proportion population using (t47 = -7.910, p .000, α 0.05), open defecation 6.517, 0.05) (t36 -3.830, 2020. In spite results, projected coverage 2030 38% 28.2%, respectively, which might miss 6.2, if urgent measures are not taken address situation. It is therefore recommended a detailed audit sector should be carried out each country identify areas need interventions scale up activities.
